What is special about beets?
Red beets are tasty, packed with vitamin C, folic acid and antioxidants and also improve your digestion. So they are very healthy.
Sowing and growing beetroot
Growing beets is quite simple. 9 fit in a box.
Beetroot seeds are actually small fruit clumps containing 3-5 seeds. When they all come up, there are far too many plants. But if you pull one away, you pull the rest with it. Thin them by cutting away the excess seedlings, rather than pulling them out.
Water regularly for even, juicy beets. The only predator of beets is the beet fly: you can prevent this by planting some garlic or chives nearby.
